Dear John’s Channing Tatum And His Abs Debut This Weekend At #1

channing-tatum-dear-john-2010While men were gearing up for a testerone-charged Super Bowl weekend, their female counterparts were flocking to theaters to feast their eyes on the delectable midsection of Channing Tatum.

A former stripper turned box office magnet, Tatum starred in Dear John, a romantic drama about a soldier who while on leave finds love with a college student (played by Amanda Seyfried) and they keep the long-distance romance going with endearing love letters.

The Hollywood hunk’s latest release brought in an impressive $32.4M, knocking Avatar out of its historic box office run and breaking its own record, becoming the highest-grossed film during a Super Bowl weekend.

Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, Avatar still managed to generate a cool $23.6M.

John Travolta rocks a bald scalp and a bad boy goatee in his latest film, From Paris With Love, but it wasn’t enough to draw some serious interest in the box office, making slightly over $8M.

Dwayne Johnson, who made his debut appearance on the Oprah show last week, continues to sport his tutu in fantasy flick, Tooth Fairy but drops one space to #5 with $6.5M.
