Take an extended visit to Planet Abiola where all women are pampered and empowered goddesses and are titillated by the hottest celebs and tales of love, sex and dating.
Yes, I’ll take an one-way ticket, please.
A woman with an infectious personality and many titles, Abiola Abrams has set the bar when it relates to blending the seductive topic of amour with the advances of social media.
Virtually holding a spot on almost every means of reaching the masses on the Net, the author of the highly praised novel, Dare and one of the most read sex and relationship columnists for Examiner.com has no intentions on slowing down and honestly, who would really want her to?
One of the few African American women to leave a more positive mark on reality television after her stint on VH1′s Tough Love, Abiola continues to heat things up in front of the camera with her new show on Shovio and her “Kiss N Tell” series which also shares its name with her monthly event at Madame X in New York.
And speaking of “Kiss N Tell,” …
LB: Who do you think “kiss n tell” more- men or women?
Abiola: For better or worse we all have big mouths the minute we step out of the bedroom unfortunately! If the relationship and or sex was good people are sharing and if it’s bad you can believe that people are sharing that too.
You should hear some of the great stories that both famous and up-and-coming writers share at my monthly reading and storytelling series in NYC, Abiola’s Kiss & Tell Live Revue. Lexi, we hear everything from the hottest erotica to the funny and embarrassing stories. It’s so much fun!
LB: One of your most identifiable features is your gorgeous smile. Which toothpaste is keeping your grin gleaming?
Abiola: Aw, thanks Lex. Ok, the truth is I have a kind of toothpaste fetish. Right now I have about 4 kinds of toothpaste in my bathroom. I’m obsessed! I use to be mostly a Rembrandt girl and now I’m really into the whole Crest 3D White. Hmmm. They need to call me for a commercial.
LB: You have developed a brand of living and loving like a goddess. How does someone embrace such a lifestyle?
Abiola: First of all, it has nothing to do with diva dramatics or treating other people badly. Some may call it selfish but for me the Goddess Lifestyle is about putting yourself first. You are no good to your loved ones if you don’t take care of yourself. Like they say in the airplane safety example put on your own oxygen mask first.
I say don’t be afraid to spoil yourself — and then give, give, give. So The Goddess Lifestyle is (a) Be selfish- in a good way; (b) Give love generously; (c) No matter what we do there’s no way everyone is going to like us. Be you and let them talk.
Love the mess that you are– I do!
LB:TLC singer Chilli has been scrutinized for being too picky when it comes to finding someone on her new reality show. Since you were given the nickname ‘Miss Picky’ during your stint on ‘Tough Love’ do you agree or disagree that it is possible to have too long of a list when it comes to finding the perfect mate?
Abiola: Sigh. Although I am a staunch advocate of people being super selective I must confess that I do believe that we can be too picky. However, there is nothing wrong with knowing what you want. If a man just wants to be with anyone who comes in the door, I don’t want him. Do you? No, you want him to want you. Look how much care we put into choosing shoes, choosing a cell phone. Why be careless when choosing a mate?
It’s funny, Tough Love didn’t show that the reason I was grilling my first date Terrance about what he wanted to do with his life is because homeboy was working in a mall with no thoughts of the future. Now there’s nothing wrong with selling T-shirts in a mall– my first job was working in a mall — but what makes you passionate? What makes your heart sing? That’s important because I am super passionate about my work. Then we can build on that excitement together.
So, I am not sure whether Chilli is really that Picky or whether her show is scripted. It may be a combo of both, but either Chilli or her writers are giving Pickiness a bad name. (giggles)
Be clear though, no matter what you are, no matter what you look like, whether you are male or female, or whatever your education level, you deserve to be with someone who makes you happy. Any of us can get just any man or any woman in 4 minutes.
You should know what you want from a person internally and then trust the universe and not be attached to the physical or material package it comes in.

OH — and most exciting of all, I am in pre-production for a movie about relationships. I’ll come back and visit your blog Lexi as soon as my next book comes out but in the meanwhile your readers can find me at www.AbiolaTV.com, on Twitter @AbiolaTV or Facebook.com/xoAbiola. And of course they can buy the novel Dare by Abiola Abrams wherever they buy books.
This was fun. Thank you, Lexi!
