A little late in the season to be referred to as a summer hit but a hit none the less and vastly becoming one of the year’s hottest songs.

Because of the artist’s choice of words within the title and the lyrics, it won’t be calling radio home anytime so Cee Lo has stated that there will be a safe word version entitled, Forget You.

Fortunately for Cee Lo, even if it’s more family-friendly version doesn’t make it to your favorite station, it may very well be on its way to becoming the very first song in history to hit #1 without radio assistance.

The Lady Killer is set to hit stores and online December 7.

While you may believe that those glares are from people who are envious of your obvious status change, the intent behind most of those stares is fueled from utter disbelief and ridicule.

After all, since you look fantastic in that turquoise and baby pink sweater, it would only make sense that your perfect match would look identically as fabulous.

Now that I think about it, those looks from strangers may also stem from outright pity for the guy because it’s apparent that it wasn’t his idea but something he was sweet-talked into.

Often seen in neophyte relationships, at times, we may become so consumed and infatuated with the fact of finally being with someone, that it clearly shrouds our better judgment. We start saying or in this case, doing things that we normally would swear that we would never do.

Isn’t it funny how steady nookie can change the way we do things?

While I’m not fond of the idea of couples dressing like four-year old fraternal twins, I do not see anything wrong with matching colors, preferably neutrals.

There are other ways to make the his and her fashion work.

Or wearing similar attire (i.e. light top, denim jeans).

Also by donning overly coordinated outfits, it strips the other person of his/her individuality. After all, isn’t that what made you start liking him anyway?

Do him (and yourself) a favor: Ditch the idea of looking like Raggedy Anne and Andy and get back to the regularly scheduled wardrobe already in progress.

Here was this 22-year old woman who was already a well-known name within the music industry but who was also getting green lights to star in some of Hollywood’s upcoming blockbusters (which all know is difficult to get). She died in a plane crash in the Bahamas after the filming of her video, Rock the Boat.

During her decade long tenure of making classics that we can still swoon and sway our hips to, Aaliyah (who was given the rightfully title of the Princess of R&B) released some tracks that we can look to aid us in our relationships, regardless of the state it’s in.

An Atlanta native, Cee-Lo recently referred to his latest viral musical hit as “pretty magical” and that “it’s totally surpassed just about everyone’s expectations.”

Released on August 20 to anxious fans via his Youtube channel, F-ck You has reached nearly 2 million views, at press time.

Cee-Lo has also recorded a radio-friendly version entitled, Forget You. I hope the edited track works out for him but there is just something about the f-grenade that just really sets the tone and how most feel after a scandalous heartbreak.

As with any song at this level of scorned magnitude, almost instantly, minds begin to wonder if he is referring to any one person in particular. Hmmm…

For example, rapper Eminem made it crystal clear about his feelings toward his on-again, off-again ex-wife, Kim.

From looking at Cee-Lo’s track record, he is a creative soul and this idea could have spawned from anywhere.

Either way, I will look forward to seeing this song hit and resonate at #1 on the music charts.

His next solo album project, The Lady Killer is slated for release on October 4, 2010.

The official video for F-ck You is set for release soon.

No details have been released as of yet but I’m sure since it’s coming from inside the seemingly chaotic thinktank of Cee-Lo, it will be something truly spectacular.

When the film hit theaters in 1998, unbeknownst to me, he was the charismatic quarterback of the Green Bay Packers.

With a NFL career spanning about the same amount time the average child is in school, Brett is determined to let his naysayers know that he’s not going anywhere.

Well, not this football season at least.

As the football equivalent of “the little engine that could”, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback took to the field this past Sunday to jumpstart the 2011 season in a dire attempt to prove to his critics (and undoubtedly to himself) that he still got “it” and that his efforts are not trivial.

His fondness for the game and his inability to step aside to let others have their shine is the cause of him not succeeding in his beloved career field of choice.

His recent efforts to continue playing football beyond his prime can serve as an impeccable example of how some interestingly approach dating and relationships.

You’ve seen the type.

They are the guys who after buying a woman a drink, he refuses to accept the truth that she is not interested in him even though she’s hiding in the restroom and trying to sneak out without him noticing.

The “Favre Factor” also applies to women (i.e. when one continues to pressure a guy to change into someone who suitably fits her own requirements and needs).

Not giving up is an admirable quality, one that is embedded in us at early age. But it can be taken too far.

You are pushing the limit when you exhibit traits that would make someone file a restraining order. I’m pretty sure that there is a very slim chance that she will let you step foot inside her bedroom that you were probably peeping in if it goes to that extreme.

When in the pursuing stage, if after pulling out all your tricks and nothing seems to work, it would be best to move on.
However, it’s a little different if you are rocking an exclusive status.

How do you know when you just to rub some embers to get the spark back or it’s time to pick up those sticks and leave?
Many factors come into play. If there is still some intimacy remaining in the relationship, get to rubbing!

If you want to get randy, then bring out the candy.

If you once again want to feel an intense sexual power, buy her a flower.

If this is the relationship that you want to stick, then it’s time to whip out that…well, you get the point.

It is saddening but sometimes a relationship can go past its prime without any possible chance of those flames being rekindled. But, there are those that insist on keeping a bad thing going.

You two never do anything together. And I mean anything.

You haven’t gotten busy in months, possibly years.

She’s changed the locks but you still continue to come by the house just hoping that she has left you a spare key outside in the fake rock.

In There’s Something About Mary, Brett’s character (playing as himself) didn’t want to let go of the past and wanted to get back with his former fiancée’, one who obviously didn’t want him back.

Amazing.

The Farrelly Brothers were onto something. Somehow they had tapped into the Brett’s psyche over a decade ago and were aware of his relentlessness to hang it up when it was his proper time to do so.

Learn from Brett’s example.

While it’s perfectly okay to pursue something that you truly desire, it can’t consume your better judgment.

Reevaluate the situation and act accordingly.

Dating is meant to be fun and exciting and shouldn’t lead to a free ride in a squad car with you sitting in the backseat, handcuffed and being read your rights.

Or in Brett’s case, like an old man trying to hold on to his youth and spotlight by leaving retirement and spending his endorsement checks on analgesic heat rubs to stay in the game.

Don’t worry, Brett: If you retire after this season, we’ll still respect you in the morning.

Even with an anticipated album, Back To Me set to hit stores and online next month and the dysfunctional return of her reality television show, Fantasia For Real, neither has received as much attention as her “alleged” affair with a married but soon-to-be-divorced man.
After news broke that Antwaun Cook’s alienated wife has decided to proceed with legally dropping his star-chasing, T-Mobile-selling, cheating behind and that a lawsuit may be heading in Fantasia’s direction, the singer broke down as well.

Amidst the career-damaging rumors of being a homewrecker and there even be an “alleged” sex tape to prove it, the Free Yourself artist tried to put her own life to an immediate halt last Monday by downing an unhealthy helping of aspirin and a sleeping aid in a suicide attempt and was rushed to a Charlotte hospital, which was later confirmed by her manager, Brian Dickens.

In an official statement, Dickens said that “Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it” and that “she knows some of the allegations are totally false (and) there are others she strongly doubts…” (She) is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused” and that “she was totally overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention.”

For anyone who is aware of Fantasia’s life prior to the fame (and downfall) would know that her life wasn’t a fairy tale.

In her memoir and television movie, she revealed that she was raped in high school, once illiterate and her life as a teen mother with virtually no financial backing. I would imagine that it would take anyone on an emotional and unstable rollercoaster.

Was she wrong for getting the bed sheets wet with a married man? Of course. However, I do believe there is more to the story that has yet to be released.

When I originally heard about her close encounter with her maker, all I could hear was her track, It’s All Good, playing in my head.

The things you told me (uh)/Had me open (I)/Gave you something (I)gave nobody else (else)/Led me to believe (you)/Had just what I need/Now I see it’s game/Got me dragging my name/You put on a show/Kept the music slow/Got all up in my ear/Saying things that I love to hear/Tears came to my eyes/But I’m not gonna cry/Everything that you ever said turned out to be all lies/But it’s all good…

How bad was it that she wanted to leave her adorable daughter and hard-worked for retry at a singing career that she would try to end her life?

Publicity stunt? I highly doubt it but the clip I heard from her 911 call sounds somewhat suspucious.

So, as her unofficial play big sis, I would make sure she learned these ironclad lessons.

Don’t date a married man- This should go without saying. No matter what excuse he gives you (i.e. I’m separated, I don’t love her anymore), he’s still married! You’re only hearing one side of the story. His wife may be at home thinking she is in wedded bliss. As long as he is legally attached to someone else, he will never be yours. If he is worth it and he feels the same way about you, you two can start with a clean slate AFTER he hands you a bouquet of roses wrapped with his divorce papers.

Never tattoo anyone’s name on your body- Regardless of what it is and how big, getting a tattoo is a big deal. Why would you pay to have someone permanently scar you with the name of someone you are dating? Not married to but just dating. If you must have a tattoo of someone’s name on you, let it be your own or your child’s. No exceptions.

Lights, No Camera, Action- In your mind, you may think you’re just like everyone else but guess what? You’re a star. Unless the sex tape is being filmed at crotch angle with no audio, people will know it’s you. A recorded intimate moment between two has the potential to be leaked all over the internet and will drive a deep penetration of unnecessary embarrassment and stress on you and your family. Yes, sex tapes are fun to make but are dangerous to keep. Even in your own possession. In the future, if you decide to capture your sexcapades on DVD, delete them on the spot after viewing, Hey, I’m not even a star but all of my sex tapes have been shredded.

Don’t attempt to commit suicide- Nothing will happen in life that is so bad that you will want to end it. Remember there are people who dealing with worse things than you that are continuing to live life to the fullest in the best way they know how. Be careful, it only takes one time to get it right and there’s no coming back from it.

Pray, look around, repeat- A continued lesson from the last one. Just when you feel that life is becoming unbearable, pray your Higher Being, look around at your blessings and do it again.

But how can these societal guidelines that were etched into our long-term memory as little five-year olds help us to establish healthy relationships as adults?

Use your inside voice
No disagreements can be settled if one is talking over the other which reminds me of another rule: Take turns. Give each other time to express how the other one feels and of course, listen without interruption.

Keep your hands to yourself / Play well with others
Pretty self-explanatory. Any type of abuse is prohibited. Well, unless it’s an invited act within the realms of your bedroom.

Treat others as you want to be treated
You have to give respect in order to receive it. Take the ABC approach: Always Be Courteous.

Apples and oranges
Respect each other’s differences because it is those qualities that make us individuals and what made you fall in love with them in the first place.

Use your imagination
If you notice that you’re stuck in a routine, use a little creativity to add some spice to a relationship. Suggestion: Role-playing with full costumes and storyline can work wonders.

Say “please” and “thank you”
Sometimes the more comfortable we get in a relationship, we may let our manners slip a little bit. Reentering those little words back into your dialogue could mean the difference between you getting what you want and sitting in the corner pouting.

Color within the lines
Discuss the boundaries of the relationship together. Are the two of you committed to each other or are there no limits and the two of you want to explore an open relationship? Either way, know what your partner wants from the relationship and work within the lines.

Don’t put dirty things in your mouth
Nothing can kill a mood more than the flavor of salty and bitter sweat from certain body parts hitting your tastebuds. Jump in the shower together and getting the steamy foreplay started from there.

Fess up when you mess up
Making mistakes is not the problem, it’s acknowledging and rectifying it is what counts.

Playtime/Have Fun
The daily hustle and bustle can sometimes leave very little time for intimate moments. Well, lighten up. Go to the movies and watch a comedy or make time to just chit chat. No serious topics. Laugh. It’s good for the soul.

Now if I can find a way to incorporate finger-painting and midday naptimes, all will be well in the world.
